Villaviciosa is a town and municipality in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. It covers 276 sq km (107 sq mi) and has a population of 15,000 people (2012 estimate).

The area around Villaviciosa has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The present town was established during the 13th century, during the reign of King Alfonso IX of León. In the 16th century Charles I, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, arrived in Villaviciosa due to a storm.

Today Villaviciosa has a developing tourist industry based on its natural landscape and good beaches.
