Grandson is a village by the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in Jura-Nord Vaudois district, Vaud canton, Switzerland. The village covers 7.86 sq km (3.03 sq mi) and has a population of over 3,000 people (2011 estimate).

The main sight of interest in Grandson is Château de Grandson, the site of an important event in the history of Switzerland. In February 1476, the troops of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, laid siege on the castle. The Swiss army came to rescue to garrison, approaching by boat. But the garrison misunderstood the signal, and surrendered to the Duke of Burgundy. The duke marched the men out of the castle and had them all executed.

In March 1476, the Swiss army began their attack on the Burgundian army, causing it to flee in panic, leaving behind an impressive collection of treasures which are today on display at the Historisches Museum in Bern.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
