Mürren is a tiny hamlet in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Situated 1,650 m (5,413 ft) above sea level, Mürren is a car-free village popular with tourists. The people of Mürren speak Walser, a local German dialect.

Due to its spectacular sceneries, Mürren attracts visitors in summer and winter. During summer, people can go for walks and hikes while in winter they can go skiing in Mürren. The village is surrounded by three majestic mountains, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

There is nothing much to say about Mürren. After all it has a population of just around 350 people (2011 estimate). The village itself has two churches, one for the Catholics and the other for the Protestants.

Visiting Mürren

Most visitors take the Schilthorn Cable Car to Mürren. The service connects Gimmelwald and Stechelberg downhill with Mürren, and from Mürren the service goes uphill to the top of Schilthorn, where there is a revolving restaurant, the Piz Gloria. The site was used for location shooting for the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, with George Lazenby as Bond.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
