Simmental is a long alpine valley carved by the River Simme in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. The valley comprises two sections, Lower Simmental (Nieder Simmental) and Upper Simmental (Obere Simmental).

The Simmental valley follows the course of the River Simme. Obere Simmental starts at Lenk, a spa village, and stretches north towards Boltigen, where it continues as Nieder Simmental heading eastwards until the River Simme enters Lake Thun.

There are a number of mountain hamlets in Simmental Valley. At the confluence between Kleine Simme and Grosse Simmer, the two streams that form River Simme, is the village of Zweisimmen (literally "two Simmes"). This is the main village in the valley. It receives trains from surrounding nearby towns.
