St-Ursanne is a quaint medieval town in Porrentruy district, Jura canton, Switzerland. It covers 11.46 sq km (4.42 sq mi) and has a population of around 700 people only (2011 estimate). Encircled by its medieval walls, St-Ursanne is entered through its fortified gates, so visiting it feels like walking back in time.

The town of St-Ursanne is situated 440 m (1,444 ft) above sea level in northeastern Switzerland, on a loop of the River Doubs before it continues into France. The town is a treasure trove of old buildings, from colleagiate churches to cloister, monastery, castle and hermitage. It developed around the hermitage established by St Ursanne in the early 7th century.

At the heart of St-Ursanne is its lovely church, built in the Romanesque style. It has statues of the Virgin and St Ursanne. On the south side of town is a bridge across the River Doubs. From here, you can get a good view of the town and its historic buildings.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
