Valle Maggia is a scenic valley in Central Switzerland. It stretches for 50 kilometers from Ascona to Cevio. On the lower portion of the valley are vineyards and villages, but as you climb up, the terrain becomes more rugged, and the vegetation gives way to the Alps. Here and there in the valley are charming villages.

The largest village in Valle Maggia is the village of Maggia itself. Here, you will find the 15th century church, Chiesa Santa Maria delle Grazie. Inside the church are beautiful frescoes from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Another village worth mentioning in Valle Maggia is Cevio. Among the sights worth visiting here are the Palazzo Pretorio and the Palazzo Franzoni, which today houses the regional museum.

Also worth visiting in Valle Maggia is the village of Mogno. There is a church here designed in 1996 by architect Mario Botta. Built of local stone, the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista has a lovely interior where light comes in from the ceiling.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
