Zofingen is a lovely Swiss town in Aargau canton, Switzerland. It covers 11.09 sq km (4.28 sq mi) and has a population of 11,000 people (2011 estimate). The town has a well-preserved Old Town with most of its historic buildings huddled together around three main public squares namely Alter Postplatz, Kirchplatz and Niklaus-Thut-Platz.

Zofingen was founded by the Counts of Frohburg in 1201. Today it has ten buildings or sites listed as Swiss heritage sites of national significance. They include the oldest Roman-era farmhouse with mosaic floors, a former armoury, a former quarantine house, three educational buildings, the museum at General-Guisan-Strasse and the city library.

Most of the people of Zofingen speak German (88.9%) with Italian being the second most common language (3.4%). Close to half the population belong to the Swiss Reformed Church (49.4%) while Roman Catholics account for 30.5% of the population.

You can reach Zofingen by train from Bern, Basel, Lucerne and Zürich.
