Nottingham is a city in East Midlands, within Nottinghamshire, England. The Nottingham Urban Area has a population of 667,000, making it the 7th largest urban area in the United Kingdom.

The city of Nottingham is perhaps best known for the legend of Robin Hood. It is however one of the early industrised cities of Britain, and was a centre for lace making and bicycle manufacturing. It was granted its city charter in conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria in 1897, and is known officially as the City of Nottingham.

In Nottingham today you can come across many beautiful historical buildings, some dating from the 12th century. Many of the most elaborate buildings in Nottingham were built in the 19th century. They are the work of prominent architects such as Alfred Waterhouse, Thomas Chambers Hines and Nottingham's own Watson Fothergill.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
