Bangor is a city in Gwynedd, in northwestern Wales. With a permanent population of 13,700, it is one of the five cities in Wales and among the smallest cities in Britain. The city is also a university town with a student population of 10,000.

Bangor is on the north coast of Wales facing the Menai Strait, which separates it from the island of Anglesey. The name Bangor comes from Welsh, meaning a fenced-in area. Its name is unrelated to Bangor in Northern Ireland. The city claims to have the longest High Street in the United Kingdom.
