Kepong (GPS: 3.20379, 101.64137) is a town in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur and in fact straddles the border between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. To its west is Bukit Lanjan, to its south is Jalan Duta, to its east is Selayang and to its north is Sungai Buloh.

Kepong, which means to siege1 or surround in Malay, was the name of a mining settlement in the late 19th century. When the mines were exhausted, the area became a rubber plantation. Today it is a northern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. As with many towns in Selangor, it straddles the border of Kuala Lumpur when the Federal Territory was created.

The main road through Kepong is Jalan Kepong, which runs from the Jalan Ipoh roundabout to the Middle Ring Road 2. The road crosses the KL-Selangor border near Sungai Keroh.
