Lebuh AMJ, Malacca

Start here
Lebuh AMJ is a highway across Malacca. The name Lebuh AMJ is short for Lebuhraya Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin, calling out the three main districts of the state. It is also known as Federal Route 19, for it is part of that route. It was built to replace the former Federal Route 19.

Lebuh AMJ starts in the west at Exit 227 (Simpang Empat Interchange) of the North-South Expressway Southern Route (E2), and ends in the east at the Malacca-Johor border, where the highway continues as Federal Route 5. Although it is supposed to replace the old Federal Route 19, at Alor Gajah town itself, the old Federal Route 19 is still in use, while Lebuh AMJ bypasses the town centre to the east.

Construction of Lebuh AMJ began in 2001, and the highway was completed in 2007 at a cost of RM505 million. There are three interchanges on the highway, which are the Semabok Interchange, Al Azim Interchange and Malim Jaya Interchange. There are also five Rest and Service Areas along the highway. Two of these are at Sungai Rambai, one is at Paya Rumput, one at Rembia and one at Melekek.
