Neil Road, SingaporeNeil Road, Singapore (11 July, 2011)

Neil Road is a road crossing through the Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar areas of Singapore. Originally called Salat Road (a corruption from Jalan Selat), which means "straits road" in Malay, it was renamed after a British military officer who fought in the 1857 Indian Mutiny.

Neil Road runs from Maxwell Road in the east to New Bridge Road in the west. Along the way it forms junctions with Cantonment Road, Bukit Pasoh Road, Kreta Ayer Road, Duxton Road, Craig Road, Everton Road, and Spottiswoode Park Road.

No. 147 Neil Road was the home of Lee Hoon Leong, the grandfather of Lee Kuan Yew, the first prime minister of Singapore, and great grandfather of the present prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong.
