Sukhumvit Road ถนนสุขุมวิท , Bangkok, Thailand

Start here
Sukhumvit Road (Thai: ถนนสุขุมวิท ) is both a major road in downtown Bangkok as well as a major highway in Thailand. The road spans a distance of 400 kilometers. Named after Phra Bisal Sukhumvit, the fifth Chief of the Department of Highways, Sukhumvit Road is one of the four major highways in the kingdom.

Sukhumvit Road begins from Phloen Chit Road west of the interchange with the 1st State Expressway, where the boundaries of the districts of Pathum Wan (on the west), Watthana (to the north) and Khlong Toei (to the south) meet. From there, Sukhumvit Road continues eastwards, forming a border between Wattana and Khlong Toei districts. Then, it continues into Phra Khanong district and then to Bang Na district.

From Bang Na district, Sukhumvit Road exits Bangkok and continues into Samut Prakan Province. From there it continues east through Chachoengsao Province, then south through Chonburi Province, then eastwards through Rayong Province, then southeast through Chanthaburi Province, and ends at the town of Trat, the provincial capital of Trat Province, just 100 km away from the border with Cambodia at Hat Lek. Sukhumvit Road forms the main road passing through the towns of Chonburi, Laem Chabang, Pattaya and Rayong.

Within Bangkok itself, Sukhumvit Road is a major commercial street. The Sukhumvit Line of the BTS Skytrain follows the road until the final station at On Nut. People going to the eastern provinces can take the bus at the Eastern Bus Terminal, also along Sukhumvit Road. It can be reached by taking the Skytrain to the Ekkamai Station.
