Kalasin Province จังหวัดกาฬสินธุ์

is a landlocked province on the Northeastern Region of Thailand. It is a hilly province which is home to Lam Pao reservoir. The province is also noted for having the biggest dinosaur fossil site in Thailand, with some fossils dating back 120 million years.
Kalasin Province is bordered by
Sakon Nakhon Province to the north,
Mukdahan Province to the east,
Roi Et Province to the south,
Maha Sarakham Province to the southwest,
Khon Kaen Province to the west and
Udon Thani Province to the northwest. It covers 6,947 sq km (2,682 sq mi) and has a population of 982,000 people (2012 estimate). It ranks 29th in size and 22nd in population.
Kalasin Province comprises 18 districts including the provincial capital Mueang Kalasin, or Kalasin Town. The other districts are Na Mon, Kamalasai, Rong Kham, Kuchinarai, Khao Wong, Yang Talat, Huai Mek, Sahatsakhan, Kham Muang, Tha Khantho, Nong Kung Si, Somdet, Huai Phueng, Sam Chai, Na Khu, Don Chan, Khong Chai. The districts are further subdivided into 134 subdistricts or
tambon, and 1,509 villages or
muban.
Places of Interest in Kalasin Province
- Kalasin Museum: Museum with a modest collection of artifacts from in and around Kalasin.
- Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang: Ancient site with remains of earthern mounds and religious ruins.
- Phraya Chaisunthon Monument: Monument in Kalasin Province of Phraya Chaisunthon, with the right hand holding a teapot and the left hand holding a magic sword.
